Artist John Charles to unveil new ‘Woman’ collection in female-empowering exhibition
Liverpool-based artist John Charles will be unveiling his latest collection – Woman – at The Baltic Hotel, Liverpool on Saturday 30 July.
Dedicated to the power and individual beauty of the female form, the Woman collection is focused on the figures of 11 volunteered models, showcasing body diversity and the incredible story of each woman.
Participants responded to a social media post from John asking for women to volunteer for a women-only nude photography shoot to embrace and be proud of their bodies. The images were then used by John to create a portrait of each model in his well-known bold use of vibrant colour and signature gold lines. The call out attracted the attention of hundreds of followers, with models including a breast cancer survivor, influencer and mother.
Commenting on the collection, John Charles, said: “I have been dabbling with life drawings and nude pieces for a while and I wanted this collection to be a showcase of the differences and strength of the female body. The photoshoot was an incredible day. This process has enabled me to meet 11 of the most amazing, inspiring women I have ever had the honour to work with and it has been an honour to paint these beautiful individuals. I can’t wait to showcase this collection at the end of July.”
Known for his large-scale pieces, John will be exhibiting 26 original portraits throughout the exhibition, 2-4pm at The Baltic Hotel, Liverpool.

About John Charles:
A Liverpool native, John was interested in art from an early age but even with the encouragement of his lovely family, never progressed it to more than a hobby.
As a young adult, John descended into a dark battle with drink and drug addiction. After years of being at his lowest point, John sought help and through his prior passion in art, finding an outlet for his creativity and a way out of the substance abuse cycle. Now more than a decade sober, John offers his support to individuals and families that are battling addiction and depression.
Following 8 years of rediscovering his love for art, John became a full-time independent artist in 2019, enabling him to focus exclusively on his two loves, his family and painting.
Since the establishment of the John Charles brand, John has successfully held a range of UK exhibitions, been appointed an ambassador of the Owen McVeigh Foundation and won acclaim from a range of art collectors and celebrities.
